The CDC shared simplified recommendations for COVID-19 vaccination this week based on new rules issued by the FDA. Providers advised to vaccinate all children against HPV beginning at age nine

HPV vaccines are safe and highly effective in preventing infection with cancer-causing strains of HPV. The American Cancer Society, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), and now the Washington Department of Health recommend starting this vaccination series at age 9. The HPV vaccine is one of the Providers advised to vaccinate all children against HPV beginning at age nine

Health Advisory: Increase in Extensively Drug-Resistant Shigellosis

Actions requested Background Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is monitoring an increase in XDR Shigella infections (shigellosis) reported through national surveillance systems. In 2022, about 5% of Shigella infections reported to CDC were XDR strains, compared with 0% in 2015.
