Kitsap Respiratory Illness Report: March 10-16

In the week ending March 16, local indicators for influenza rebounded slightly, approaching elevated levels observed at the end of December. Indicators for COVID-19 and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) remained low.

1.1% of emergency department (ED) visits were attributable to COVID-19, 1.2% were attributable to influenza, and fewer than 10 visits were attributable to RSV. Kitsap sentinel reporting labs reported 38 positive COVID-19 tests (6.6% of specimens tested), 65 positive influenza tests (50 influenza A, 15 influenza B; 14.2% of specimens tested), and 2 positive RSV tests (0.9% of specimens tested).

On average, fewer than 10 hospital beds at St. Michael Medical Center were in use per day for COVID-19 or influenza patients.

At Kitsap long-term care facilities, there have been five COVID-19 outbreaks reported in the past four reporting weeks, and no influenza outbreaks.
