Kitsap Respiratory Illness Report: Nov. 19 to Nov. 25

In week ending 11/25/2023, Kitsap Public Health District continued to see local indicators of influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) elevated and rising. COVID-19 activity remains low.

1.4% of emergency department (ED) visits were attributable to COVID-19, 0.8% were attributable to influenza, and there were fewer than 10 ED visits attributable to RSV. Kitsap sentinel reporting labs reported 41 positive COVID-19 tests (7.1% of specimens tested), 41 positive influenza tests (36 influenza A, 1 influenza B; 9.8% of specimens tested), and 19 positive RSV tests (9.2% of specimens tested).

On average, around 13 hospital beds at St. Michael Medical Center were in use per day for COVID-19 or influenza patients.

At Kitsap long-term care facilities, there have been three COVID-19 outbreaks reported in the past four reporting weeks, and no influenza outbreaks.
