In week ending April 26, local indicators for influenza were low and continued to approach baseline levels, while indicators for COVID-19 and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) remained minimal. Other Puget Sound counties observed similar trends. Regional laboratory surveillance most frequently detected rhinovirus among clinical respiratory specimens, followed by SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19).
Fewer than 10 emergency department (ED) visits were attributable to influenza or to RSV, and there were no ED visits attributable to COVID-19. Kitsap sentinel reporting labs reported 17 positive COVID-19 tests (4.0% of specimens tested), 14 positive influenza tests (10 influenza A, 4 influenza B; 4.9% of specimens tested), and 0 positive RSV tests (0.0% of specimens tested).
On average, fewer than 10 hospital beds at St. Michael Medical Center were in use per day for COVID-19 or influenza patients.
At Kitsap long-term care facilities, there has been one COVID-19 outbreak reported in the past four reporting weeks, and no influenza outbreaks.
