In week ending April 5, local indicators for influenza and RSV were elevated but continued to approach baseline levels, while indicators for COVID-19 remained low. Other Puget Sound counties observed similar trends. Regional laboratory surveillance most frequently detected rhinovirus among clinical respiratory specimens, followed by influenza A and B.
Fewer than 10 emergency department (ED) visits were attributable to COVID-19 or to influenza, and there were no ED visits attributable to RSV. Kitsap sentinel reporting labs reported 15 positive COVID-19 tests (3.1% of specimens tested), 32 positive influenza tests (16 influenza A, 16 influenza B; 6.7% of specimens tested), and four positive RSV tests (3.5% of specimens tested).
On average, fewer than 10 hospital beds at St. Michael Medical Center were in use per day for COVID-19 or influenza patients.
At Kitsap long-term care facilities, there have been two COVID-19 outbreaks reported in the past four reporting weeks, and one influenza outbreak.
