Kitsap Respiratory Illness Report: Week 16 (4/13/2025 – 4/19/2025)

In week ending April 19, local indicators for influenza were low and continued to approach baseline levels, while indicators for COVID-19 and RSV remained low. Other Puget Sound counties observed similar trends. Regional laboratory surveillance most frequently detected rhinovirus among clinical respiratory specimens, followed by influenza B and parainfluenza. Kitsap and other Washington counties are also continuing to see elevated pertussis activity, predominantly in children and adolescents.

Fewer than 10 emergency department (ED) visits were attributable to COVID-19 or to influenza, and there were no ED visits attributable to RSV. Kitsap sentinel reporting labs reported 15 positive COVID-19 tests (3.7% of specimens tested), 17 positive influenza tests (9 influenza A, 8 influenza B; 4.2% of specimens tested), and 0 positive RSV tests (0.0% of specimens tested).

On average, fewer than 10 hospital beds at St. Michael Medical Center were in use per day for COVID-19 or influenza patients.

At Kitsap long-term care facilities, there has been one COVID-19 outbreak reported in the past four reporting weeks, and no influenza outbreaks.
