In week ending March 22, local indicators for influenza continued to decrease but remained high, while local indicators for RSV remained elevated, and indicators for COVID-19 remained low. Other Puget Sound counties observed similar trends. Regional laboratory surveillance most frequently detected influenza A and rhinovirus among clinical respiratory specimens.
1.3% of emergency department (ED) visits were attributable to influenza, and fewer than 10 visits were attributable to COVID-19 or to RSV. Kitsap sentinel reporting labs reported 11 positive COVID-19 tests (2.0% of specimens tested), 79 positive influenza tests (55 influenza A, 24 influenza B; 14.2% of specimens tested), and 12 positive RSV tests (7.3% of specimens tested).
On average, fewer than 10 hospital beds at St. Michael Medical Center were in use per day for COVID-19 or influenza patients.
At Kitsap long-term care facilities, there have been two COVID-19 outbreaks reported in the past four reporting weeks, and two influenza outbreaks.
