Kitsap Respiratory Illness Report: Week 8 (2/16/2025-2/22/2025)

In week ending February 22, local indicators for influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) remained high, while local indicators for COVID-19 remained low. Hospitalizations for COVID-19 and influenza remained elevated. Regional laboratory surveillance most frequently detected influenza A among clinical respiratory specimens.

4.7% of emergency department (ED) visits were attributable to influenza, 0.9% of emergency department (ED) visits were attributable to RSV, and fewer than 10 visits were attributable to COVID-19. Kitsap sentinel reporting labs reported 22 positive COVID-19 tests (3.7% of specimens tested), 224 positive influenza tests (187 influenza A, 37 influenza B; 28.0% of specimens tested), and 39 positive RSV tests (13.8% of specimens tested).

On average, around 13 hospital beds at St. Michael Medical Center were in use per day for COVID-19 or influenza patients.

At Kitsap long-term care facilities, there have been three COVID-19 outbreaks reported in the past four reporting weeks, and four influenza outbreaks.
