Kitsap Respiratory Illness Report: Sept. 22-28

In the week ending September 28, local indicators for COVID-19 remained at elevated levels, and have generally remained steady since the end of June 2024. Local indicators for influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) remained minimal.

2.1% of emergency department (ED) visits were attributable to COVID-19, and fewer than 10 visits were attributable to either influenza or RSV.  Kitsap sentinel reporting labs reported 91 positive COVID-19 tests (13.6% of specimens tested), 9 positive influenza tests (8 influenza A, 1 influenza B; 4.3% of specimens tested), and 0 positive RSV tests (0.0% of specimens tested).

On average, around 11 hospital beds at St. Michael Medical Center were in use per day for COVID-19 or influenza patients.

At Kitsap long-term care facilities, there have been seven COVID-19 outbreaks reported in the past four reporting weeks, and no influenza outbreaks.
