Kitsap Respiratory Illness Report: July 21 to Sept. 19

In the week ending July 20, local indicators for COVID-19 remained elevated, but appeared to be holding steady. Local indicators for influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) remained very low.

1.5% of emergency department visits were attributable to COVID-19, and fewer than 10 emergency department (ED) visits were attributable to either influenza or RSV. Kitsap sentinel reporting labs reported 70 positive COVID-19 tests (16.5% of specimens tested), 0 positive influenza tests, and 0 positive RSV tests.

On average, around 10 hospital beds at St. Michael Medical Center were in use per day for COVID-19 or influenza patients.

At Kitsap long-term care facilities, there have been four COVID-19 outbreaks reported in the past four reporting weeks, and no influenza outbreaks.
