Kitsap Respiratory Illness Report: Dec. 3 to Dec. 9

In week ending Dec. 9, RSV indicators in Kitsap County remained high, and influenza indicators were elevated and rising.  COVID-19 activity remains low. There was one laboratory-confirmed influenza-associated death, which occurred during the past week.

1.5% of emergency department (ED) visits were attributable to COVID-19, 1.2% were attributable to influenza, and 0.9% were attributable to RSV. Kitsap sentinel reporting labs reported 83 positive COVID-19 tests (11.2% of specimens tested), 51 positive influenza tests (42 influenza A, 9 influenza B; 9.1% of specimens tested), and 37 positive RSV tests (13.0% of specimens tested).

On average, around 10 hospital beds at St. Michael Medical Center were in use per day for COVID-19 or influenza patients.

At Kitsap long-term care facilities, there have been five COVID-19 outbreaks reported in the past four reporting weeks, and no influenza outbreaks.
